It’s too bad she made so many movies in black-and-white because this dame had the most beautiful green eyes. For serious.

After a few years on Broadway, Gene Tierney was noticed by producer Darryl F Zanuck and cast as Barbara Hall in “Hudson’s Bay (1940)” (which I have not seen) and the rest, as they say, is history.

The story goes that, after seeing herself on camera for the first time, she thought she sounded like “an angry Minnie Mouse” and decided that the best way to remedy that issue was to take up smoking. She died in 1991 from emphysema. There’s a lesson to be learned there, and I think it’s “don’t take shortcuts”.

Her lengthy career saw her work with Vincent Price twice, Dana Andrews three times (get a room, you two!) and she got to work with legendary director John Ford. Not bad.
